FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT EXPO “LA FERIA DEL NOPAL” TO SHOWCASE HEALTHY AND TASTEFUL DISHES FEATURING NOPAL (PRICKLY PEAR CACTUS)

Los Angeles, CA (December 1, 2010) – Hundreds of culinary enthusiasts, families, elected officials and celebrities are expected to attend the first ever “Feria Del Nopal”. Hosted by Juan’s Restaurante and Hollywood Celebrity Chef Juan Mondragón. The event will take place on Saturday, December 11, 2010, from1 pm to 7 pm, in front of Juan’s Restaurante, 4291 Main St. in the city of Baldwin Park, California.
Families are invited for an afternoon of fun, food and entertainment. Everyone will get a chance to taste and enjoy the food expo, featuring healthy but flavorful dishes, nutritional and diabetes friendly food based on Nopal (prickly pear cactus). The event will also feature live music performance, Aztec dancers, ballet folklórico, and much more fun for the entire family!
Nopal (prickly pear cactus), traditionally used in Mexican culinary culture, is enjoying a wave of awareness, even among celebrities over its taste, nutritional qualities and healthy healthy recipes. Chefs Juan Mondragón and Rocio Camacho have created a large cactus-based menu, starting with appetizers, salads, main dishes, desserts and beverages to be unveiled during “Feria Del Nopal. These culinary creations will be available for tasting to everyone attending the event.

Chef Juan Mondragón will be one of the judges to determine who will take the prize for the most delicious dish of “La Feria Del Nopal” with prizes awarded to the top three dishes.
